Jaime Luis Gómez was born on the 14th July 1975, in Los Angeles, California, USA of Mexican origin, and is a rapper as well as actor, best known as a member of the group Black Eyed Peas. Taboo has been active in the entertainment industry since 1995.

To begin with, the boy attended the Muscatel Middle School in Rosemead. As a child he wanted to be a philanthropist! Taboo became a member of the hip pop group Black Eyed Peas in 1995 – the group was then called Atban Klann, and the other team members were Will.i.am, apl.de.ap, Mark Degraff and Robert Byrne (Nucentz). After several changes through 2001, they changed the group name to The Black Eyed Peas, and today Taboo is one of the four members of the group and has a central role. After they signed their contract with the Interscope Records label and the released the first album “Behind the Front” in 1998, the group became popular and gained considerable success. One of the singles from the album is called “Joints and Jam” and is included in the soundtrack of “Bulworth”. Their album “Monkey Business” (2005) was certified platinum in the USA and contains the singles “My Humps” and “Do Not Phunk with My Heart”. In 2009, the group clung to the first and second places of the Billboard Hot 100, with their singles “Boom Boom Pow” and “I Gotta Feeling” – these singles held the rankings for 30 consecutive weeks in 2009. In 2011, the group announced an hiatus.

Concerning his solo career, Taboo planned to launch his first self-titled solo album in 2008,” and he has collaborated with several other artists such as Shakira, Blu Cantrell and Juanes. He has even stated that he has plans to collaborate with several other artists in the future. Taboo has also helped to write and sing on several film songs including “Coach Carter”, “Legally Blonde”, “Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle” and “Barbershop 2”. In 2014, he released a single “Zumbao” and another single “The Fight” was released in 2016.

Moreover, Taboo appeared as an actor for the first time alongside Wyclef Jean in the independent film “Cosmic Radio” (2007), alongside stars such as Michael Madsen, Ricardo Antonio Chavira and other big names. He played Vega in “Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li” (2009), and Taboo has also appeared as a judge in the reality TV show “Top Pop Group” aired on MTV.

In 2011, he published his autobiography, “Fallin Up – My Story”. He has collaborated with the JUMP brand creating a line of athletic shoes called Taboo Deltah 3008.

Finally, in the personal life of Taboo, he married Jaymie Dizon in Pasadena in the middle of 2008; they have two children. He has another son from a previous relationship. In his youth he had addictions to drugs and alcohol, and in 2007 he was arrested for driving under the influence. Since this experience Taboo is completely clean, and often gives interviews in which he tells about his addictions, to raise awareness among young people.
