Encouraged by her parents, Jenna had an early exposure to the world of acting. She started acting in regional productions and commercials. It was a start in the industry that began just 10 years after her birth on May 2, 1977. Even though she was a child actress, her parents, Gloria and Frank von Öy, still believed in the importance of formal education. They enrolled her in Newton High School.
While still in high school, Jenna made her television debut on an episode of ABC’s Weekend Special in 1986. Her satisfying performances landed her new roles on Tales from Darkside and Kate and Allie. She then starred in a short-lived series, Lenny which ran from 1990 to 1991.
The starlet nurtured her acting career while attending high school, so when she finally graduated, she didn’t head to college immediately. Instead, she starred on Fleur 1990-1995, playing the role of Six Lemeure, a fast-talking character. When the show ended, Jennifer went to the University of Southern California, where she attended film school to further her acting skills.
